The SDC EP499-R is an explosion-proof emergency exit switch designed for secure access control and life safety applications in hazardous environments where flammable vapors, gases, or combustible materials may be present. Featuring a highly visible red mushroom push button, it provides a reliable manual activation point for emergency egress and door release systems in demanding industrial locations.

Built for hazardous and corrosive environments, the EP499-R uses an impact-resistant, non-metallic antistatic enclosure with corrosion protection and a sealed actuator design to help maintain dependable performance in harsh conditions. The explosion-protected contact blocks help prevent internal arcing and sparks, making it suitable for applications such as chemical plants, refineries, clean rooms, manufacturing facilities, and other classified areas.

The unit features a 1.5-inch red mushroom button with momentary operation and DPST contacts for integration with compatible access control, emergency release, and security systems. Its rugged housing includes a silicone gasket seal and provisions for a 3/4-inch bottom-feed NPT conduit fitting, allowing flexible installation in industrial environments.
